MSRDC (INDIA)
This project audited 50 km (32 miles) of newly constructed road in the City of Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India. The Toll roadways were built on a design, build, maintain and operate model by a Concessionaire.
In addition to the Indian Road Congress Standards, YSMA had to define Criterion for the safety audit. The audit evaluated the roadway alignments, cross sections, intersections and access control, signing and roadway markings, and roadside hazards with a special emphasis on vulnerable road users, such as physically challenged pedestrians. The recommended countermeasures included traffic control measures for communicating changes in operating speed, regrading of access roads, installation of sidewalk ramps, ensuring continuity in sidewalks, installation of guardrail, delineation of roadside hazards and installation of traffic signals. |
