Cooper and Guadalupe
The Union Pacific railroad tracks cross two of the approaches of the intersection of Guadalupe and Cooper Roads in Gilbert. Hence, the intersection posed unique challenge to improve capacity and delay as train movements had to be incorporated in the traffic signal operations. We worked diligently with Union Pacific Railroad and created the first-of-its-kind traffic signal preemption strategy for such signalized intersections.
We utilized this strategy and identified an optimal widening footprint that saved the Town several million dollars in construction cost of this project. |
